In Jujutsu Kaisen’s final arc, with Gojo finally out of the Prison Realm, things seemed to be looking up for the heroes, but that all changed when Gojo was killed in his fight with Sukuna. Kenjaku then gave Sukuna the authority to start the Merger before his death at Yuta’s hands, and from there, Jujutsu Kaisen ’s final arc became a battle royale between Yuji and his friends and Sukuna in his incarnated form. The final battle was filled with plenty of twists and exciting moments, and while the ending might not have been complicated, there’s still plenty to break down.

As the final battle raged on, Yuji was soon the only one still able to fight and damage Sukuna, as he had the ability to target the "boundary" between Sukuna and Fushiguro's soul with his version of Cleave, trying to force the King of Curses out of his host body. Yuji activated his Domain Expansion and took Sukuna and himself into a facsimile of Yuji’s hometown, and as Yuji showed Sukuna everything from his old life and talked about how he’s learned the value of life, Yuji told Sukuna to release Megumi and go back inside him if he didn’t want to die. Sukuna, naturally, balked at the idea, and the final battle between Yuji and Sukuna began inside Yuji’s Domain.
Yuji once again connected to Megumi’s soul, but at that time, Yuji told Megumi it was okay if he wanted to die. However, Yuji said that he would be lonely without him, and Yuji’s sadness was enough for Megumi to fight back against Sukuna again, with Megumi using Ten Shadows to trip Sukuna up so Yuji could land more hits on him. That wasn’t enough to stop Sukuna from recovering his Cursed Technique, however, but before Sukuna could use Malevolent Shrine again, he was shocked to discover that Yuji’s mysterious gauntlets were covering up him missing a second finger.

Sukuna quickly realized that Yuta tricked him earlier; Yuta gained a Copy of Shrine not from eating Sukuna’s last finger, but from eating one of Yuji’s. As for Sukuna’s last finger, that was part of Gojo’s final gambit against Sukuna. Nobara, who had been in a coma since the Shibuya Incident, would use Resonance on Sukuna’s last finger to attack his soul and disrupt his Domain. With Nobara’s help, Yuji got the opening he needed to continue beating on Sukuna and deliver him one final Black Flash so powerful it made the light leave his eyes.
With Sukuna finally pushed to his limit, he was expelled from Megumi’s body and forced into a weak, blob-like form. Sukuna was moments away from death, but Yuji tried one last time to appeal to his humanity and gave him a chance to start over and live inside his body again. Sukuna rejected Yuji’s pleas and died declaring himself a curse, and with that, the battle against Sukuna was finally over.

What Happened To Everyone After Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Batte?
Jujutsu Kaisen's Denouement
With Sukuna and Kenjaku defeated and Uraume killing themself in the aftermath, Yuji and his friends retired to Jujutsu High to recover from the battle. Yuji gave Nobara and Megumi letters Gojo wrote to them before the final battle; Nobara’s had information on her mother’s whereabouts, something she didn’t care about, and Megumi finally learned that Gojo killed his father, which only made Megumi laugh. From there, Yuta was revealed to have successfully returned to his original body, and Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #269 ended with everyone discussing whether they could have done anything differently in the final battle.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #270 was then devoted to tying up various loose ends. Since Sukuna ate Tengen before the final battle, his remains were used to maintain Tengen’s barrier; after that, Maki told Daido and Rokujushi to hide in Tokyo, declared as a dangerous off-limits zone where curses tan rampant, as reincarnated sorcerers were hunted down. Amai tried to apologize to the boy he bullied, and Megumi had a small romantic moment with Hana. Charles, Higuruma, and Takaba all went back to their jobs, and in a surprising twist, Kenjaku was implied to be alive and formed a comedy duo with Takaba.
As for Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara as a trio, they were assigned a mission to deal with a curse user making a woman see her boyfriend as having a disgusting face. The curse user was dealt with fairly easily, and after he was apprehended, Yuji remembered one of his last conversations with Gojo where he said that he wanted people to find new ways of dealing with problems. Yuji put that into practice by telling the curse user to reform and join them one day. With that optimistic note, Yuji’s time in Jujutsu Kaisen finally came to a close.

Sukuna Got The Best Ending Out Of Anyone In Jujutsu Kaisen
Sukuna Was One Of Jujutsu Kaisen's Best Characters Until The Very End
In another surprise twist, Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter brought back both Sukuna and Mahito, the two conversing in some form of afterlife. Mahito revealed that Sukuna became who he was to get revenge for the persecution he once suffered; Sukuna said it didn’t matter, but he did admit that he could have walked a different path. Sukuna decided he would try to change himself if he were ever reincarnated, even as Mahito called him soft, and the last panel of Jujutsu Kaisen was of Sukuna’s final finger inside a shrine, calling back to the first chapter of the series.

As nice as it was to see Sukuna commit to his beliefs until his last breath, Sukuna having the self-awareness to know that losing to Yuji meant his way had merit did a lot to flesh out his character in a way consistent with his personality, especially since Sukuna deciding to change in his next life directly parallels Gojo deciding to stay the same after death. Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending didn’t have time to give everyone their due, and that makes it so surprising that Sukuna got as good an ending as he did.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending Is Great, Despite Its Many Flaws
Jujutsu Kaisen Ends On A Mostly Great Note

Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending is hardly perfect, even by the typical standards for manga. Jujutsu Kaisen ’s already quick pacing resulted in a finale that left a lot of the story feeling underdeveloped, whether that’s with the stories of some characters, a lack of meaningful interactions, or a lot of the worldbuilding and plot threads being left unaddressed in the end. In that regard, Jujutsu Kaisen’s ending is rather disappointing, especially with how big a series it has become over the past few years.
However, it’s not as if nothing about it works. The conclusion to Yuji’s arc was great to watch, as clumsy as it might have been, and even with so much left up in the air, Jujutsu Kaisen ’s finale does show Yuji finding his own way of breaking the cycle of curses, which serves to bring the overarching narrative to full circle in a somewhat satisfying way. It might not have been the best ending Jujutsu Kaisen needed, but it still works very well, and hopefully, the anime and any other additions to the franchise will help make it even better.
